Right Wing Bottom Skin and Flap install.... - 6.0 hrs

Ok so back at it this morning. Before Derek and I start riveting on the bottom skin I needed to get the flap installed. So I started out by installing the new hinge piece to the flap and taping a small ruler on the aileron. While measureing off my spacing I marked the flap and hinge marks on the trailing edge wing skin. Then I removed the hinge pin and drilled a few test holes. Remember on the left wing I had to do this 2 times. I only have one piece of hinge left so I need to get this right. Installed the flap with the clecoed hinge in place and SWEET!

Now I removed the pin and starting at the aileron edge I drilled and clecoed each hole in the hinge working to the right. I reinstalled the hinge pin just to check for fit. Perfect.... Removed and deburred the hinge and recleoed in place and then squeezed the rivets in place.

Next I cut the eyes on both sides of the hinge to corespond with the nutplate I installed for the pin holders. Much easier adding that nutplate while the flap gap fairing was off the wing. Measured and cut and bent the hinge pins to fit the clip holders I made from the scrape hinge eyes. One last flap install to check for fit and its done.

Now it was time to get Derek out here and knock this last skin out. I went ahead and started the rivets I could reach on the double seam line in the middle and then we got after it. Even with another person you have to go slow and check your rivets with a mirror and there is alot of reaching for the bucker. Thats me! Anyway we finally got it done. By then it was 4pm and we had to run to pick up the PP Table to get back in time for Sunday bowling league. Wings back in the cradle and work table removed to make room for the table.

Derek held up his end of the deal so I did as well. When we got back from bowling we had to put it together so I was only good for one game. And yes I won.... barely... 21 -19. Derek got his first of many lessons. Yes the "Old Man" still has it. Now where is John Dearman! Thanks for the help Derek! Nice job on that rivet gun.
