Left Wing Fuel Sender.... - 2.0 hrs

Time to get back to work on the plane. Not enough time to get much done with Easter stuff to do but wanted to get somethin done for sure.

I got the fuel sender out for the left wing. First off I read the instructions and then checked the plans. The plan sheet shows the position of the arm but you have to cut it and bend it. I did the 90 degree bend leaving around 3 inches frm the bend to the base of the float. You end up with about the same to the hole in the sending unit. I marked where the second bend went and did that bend next and then cut it leaving enough in the hole to pass thru to the other side of the sending unit.

Next I removed the tank plate. I have QB tanks so the nutplate were already installed for the sending unit and prosealed nicely. I removed the cork gasket and cleaned up the edges of the tank and tank plate with MEK. Then I mixed up a batch of proseal. I smeared the first batch around the edge of the tank and stuck the cork gasket in place. Next I smeared another batch around the sensor plate and screwed it in place over the gasket. Next I installed the rubber sensor gasket for the sensor and it was done.

I noticed the bracket is indexed to only go one way but it still takes some looking so I marked some index marks on the sensor and the tank so if I need to remove with the wing on it would be easy to reposition. Then my phone rang and I asked Jim how he did his and he said to proseal that rubber gasket as well. I remember others on VAF saying that as well so I went ahead and removed the sensor and prosealed that up. Then it was really done.
