Front Firewall Work.... - 2.0 hrs
Today I wanted to get the fuel line hole drilled in the firewall. Still not sure where to do it yet. I was looking at Walter Tondo's site and he did it thru the top of the facet pump doubler. It this would work for me that would be best. I went ahead measured per the plans and drilled the hole for the nut in the front landing gear and installed the plug as shown in the first pic.
Next I did some more measuring for the prop and mixture holes. I am using the eyeballs so the holes are fairly big. It looks like if I move them over and down 1/2 inch that should work. I need to make sure where the oil cooler sits for clearance.
Then Dru showed up at his hanger down the road and I ran down there and borrowed his metal brake. Worked like a champ. When I got back to my hangar I clamped it in place and put 2 of the panel ribs and panel frame in place to check for clearance. I took several pics from different angles to show how the cables will plug in. I think I will rubber mount the Approach FastStack box to the bracket to minimize vibration. Also I will make a layout to go into the Avionics Binder showing what the DB connectors are. Once everything is installed you would not be able to see the labels on the box. About the best you can do is reach up from under and unscrew the connectors if you needed to remove them.
Last I drilled out a few holes to #12 for bolts to hold the Adel clamps holding the fuel pressure line.
This website was built to document my work in compliance with the FAA requirements
needed to certify my aircraft. My experiences and comments are by no means to be
considered as instructions on how to build any aircraft.
