High Pressure Fuel Pump.... - 4.0 hrs

Well I received the fuel pump this week so it is time to build it. Yes its another kit. Just what I needed. You have to build the pump from parts and tubing. Nothing too complicated except bending 180 turns in the tubing which I have never done before.

First You have to modify the center floor section by cutting off the part that gets replaced by the new pump base. This base is very beefy. I started out by marking the first part to cutoff by measuring the new base and marking a square line across the base. Cut that off with the bandsaw no problem. Then you cut out a section of the old center section. The only reason I can see this for is to allow to get wrenches on the different tubing sections.

Next you have to cut off a 4.5 x 4.25 section of the front of the fuel valve cover. In all cases I started by drilling in the corners and using a cutoff wheel when I couldn't use the bandsaw to cut up to the corners.

Then I mounted the pump and filter on the base. Thought I would try some tubing bending. After 2 hours and 3 tubes bent WRONG. And forgeting to put on the fittings before I flared. This is crap. This is where hours are waisted. Can you tell I am PISSED OFF! Hopefully tomorrow will be a new day.
