Headset Jacks and Wiring.... - 4.0 hrs

With the headset wires run yesterday and the holes for the jacks drilled it was time to solder the connectors on. First I cut the wires shorter and moved up the labels so as not to loose which wires were which. The guys at Approach Systems did a great job of labeling the harnesses. I left enough wire to tiewrap a service loop that cold drop down below the panel if I need to repair later.

With the pilot side done I moved over to the passenger side and repeated the process. Screwed the retaining nuts in place with the fiber washers to isolate the grounds.

Next I started on a drop down panel to hold the terminal strips. I cut a piece of .063 which should be good and stiff for this project. I cut a piece of hinge to allow the panel to be attached to the subpanel behind the instrument panel. The idea is to attach the hinge to the subpanel and use camlocks along the front edge which when unlocked will allow this panel to drop down giving access to the terminal stirps.

If I was ever to change the EXP2Bus to regular switches this panel could be used for fuseblocks as well. I drilled the hinge material to the cut panel and match drilled to the subpanel. I think I am missing some retaining rings for the camlocks so a Spruce order will need to be placed to continue.
