Ready to start building again..... - 0.0 hrs

Had alot going on the last few weeks. Finally joined the EAA Chapter 774 this past week. Bought a new truck.

You can't have a Denali without the Harley Dave modifications. So I got after it this morning to get ready for the ARE tonneau cover next week. The first part of the HD modification is to put handles on the storage boxes in the back. These boxes keep things organized in the back. Those that know Harley Dave know that if you look up organized in the dictionary there is a picture of him there!

I went to Sears per the HD instruction manual and picked up the necessary handles, screws and washers. Drilled the holes that match the handles and put in the first screws. First thing I find is the washers overlap as the holes on these handles are closer together than his. So I set back and think what would Dave do. Well we all know he is going to get in his truck and take quality time to go shopping again. I just came from there and I wasn't going back since I already tried to get some smaller washers and they didn't have them. Things just are not the same since Kmart bought Sears. It is just a matter of time before they change the tool name to "Kraftsman".

So I went into aircraft manufacturer mode! Snap that washer into a pair of vice grips and grind it to fit. Heck, thats what these tools are for right? I guess Nascar guys go to Sears and Fighter Pilot aircraft manfacturers just get after it and fabricate.

Now you see the finished product. Add the tiedowns and ready to go. Now its time to tidy up the garage and get back to airplane building.
