More Canopy Frame Work - 5 hrs

This is actually an update for this week since the weekend. I worked on things off an on each day mainly on the canopy. First I put the rollers together and mounted in the tracks that are clamped in place. I fabbed up some spacers that go under the very back edge of the rails. With the canopy frame in place I drilled the slider block to 3/16th. This needs to be drilled to the back edge of the frame and this gives the 3rd sliding point of the frame. The canopy will only be fixed at 3 points. The front of the frame on the 2 rollers and the sliding track rail on the top of the fuselage behind the baggage area.

I need to get this rail in place to see how much I need to trim off of the front roller points. Next I marked up the track to drill the rivet and bolt holes.

I finally got 2 of my back ordered backup instruments from Van's. Airspeed and Altimeter. VSI is still on back order. I also needed more room on the panel and wanted the modular capability of Affordable Panels. I ordered the Slider XL from Fabian. This guy is awesome to work with. He said he was back logged and that it might be a week before he could get my panel shipped. No problem I got plenty to do. 2 days later I get an email that it shipped. Very nicely done and even provides the larger clecos to hole it in place during installation. Also picked up his nice aluminum vents. These are really made well and will provide a nice compliment to the panel. The 3 piece panel will allow for easy upgrades in the future since the panel is broken up into 3 sections.
