Fuselage March 2007 Updates

Misc Stuff - 8 hrs

This is actually a Sat. Sun. update. Lots of little things mixed in. I started out the day taking the inside edges off of the roll bar to prep it for painting. I am going to paint all of the canopy parts, rollbar, frame, inside trim, etc. flat black. I have seen many like this and it seems to look the best. After I got this done I took it over to the hanger and shot the first coat. I wanted to shoot it indoors since we have so much springtime crap in the air. Next I taped up the edges of the NACA vents and primed. I left the clean edge since I am going to use Proseal to put these in place. I saw several RV's a few weeks ago that did this without rivets and it looks good.

Next I prepped and primed and blacked the canopy rollers. Back to shoot another coat on the roll bar. Looks great. Then I fabbed up the final panel pieces. Nit picky stuff like drilling, deburring and riveting nutplates. Clecoed and drilled the final holes in the top forward skins.

With that out of the way I can now remove the top forward skin and deburr and dimple. This is the last skin. Yeah. Then I can proceed with the front structure. It is all done and ready to prime. Before I put all this back together I am going to remove the rudder pedals and fuel vent lines and paint the interior. Once that is done I can rivet the firewall center piece and reinstall everything for the last time. Last I reinstalled the rollbar and center bar for a test fit.
