Drilled Nose Gear and Fabbed Spacers.... - 2.0 hrs

Well I talked to Tom Brink with Genuine Aircraft Hardware yesterday and told him my situation. He was able to express me out a next day piloted reamer that was actually an even better size for this close tollerance bolt. It showed up today so after work I headed down to the hangar.

I reamed out the hole and the bolt goes in very snug. This should accomplish the task of making the nose gear creaking not happen. Next I used the 5/16 reamer for the bottom of the nose gear and installed the bracket that sits on top of the nose gear wheel bracket. This is the new one that was designed later to fit the modified gear assembly for the 7A.

Next I had discussed with Jon how Jeff B had made his engine mount spacers out of .063 instead of the 1/8 inch spacers and he agreed they were very snug. So I fabbed up some washers out of the .063 and replaced them. The goal here is to fill in part of the gap and still be able to use the existing bolts and not put too much pull on the mount or the firewall. Harley Dave stopped by and held them in place while I slid the bolts thru from the back side. Works out nicely.
