Gussets.... - 2.0 hrs

Didn't get to much done as Derek and I had bowling tonight. I pulled the gussets back in line with the longerons on the 707 bulkheads and drilled and clecoed. The forward ones inside the side skins are going to be tricky. Don't want this miss drilled and rubbing against the sideskins. I may wait and get the aft deck riveted for stiffness before I do anymore rotating of the stand to get to these.

I went ahead and added the canopy decks and drilled thru the gussets that mount to the 705 bulkhead. I had already trimmed these. The instructions say to remove metal slowly. They look ok but the plans do not show how much the gusset can stick out of the slots you cut in the canopy decks. I think I will look around on the forum first to see if anyone has any better pics on a slider setup.

Next I worked on the forward gussets at the firewall. I think they are F657. My rivet fan would not go as low as 1/2 inch spacing so I had to draw and mark with a ruler. Drilled on the press and deburred. Last I match drilled the left one and clecoed. The compressor was too low to get the other side and it was late so I didn't want to crank up the noise maker. Back at it tomorrow.
