More Emp..Fuel Lines... - 4.0 hrs

Continuing on from yesterday I removed the HS completely and setup the entire HS and elevators on the table with the horns hanging over the edge. I installed the bearing bolt with washers. I still need one more thin one on each side or I could just fab up a short bushing. Anyway the next step was to mark the control horn that sits the most aft position per the plans. 1/2 inch back and 3/8 in up. Marked it and punched and drilled 1/8 pilot.

Next I fabed up some scrap to fill the thickness of the space between the 2 horns. Drilled a pilot hole thru all of the scrap on the drill press to make sure it was square. Then I clamped all of this in place and used it as a drill guide for the hole in the left side horn. Again this worked like planned and then enlarged both holes for the bolt.

Now it was time to put the last 2 AN fittings on the flex fuel lines. First I wrapped the ends with several layers of electrical tape to keep the stainless braid from fraying. I tried a test piece first using the cutoff saw going thru it fast and then slow. Slow worked best and kept the cleanest edge. I used the KOUL Tools to put the ends on. These work great. Expecially when you can't get the hose near a vise.

The next step was to run the brakelines. I have to run from the parking brake down to the firewall bracket connections and then from there up the center under the fuel pump and out to the fittings on the left and right gear legs.
