Passenger Side Rudder Pedals/Heat Valve - 2 hrs

Well the weatherman was right. The rain started early this morning so it was good that I got these primed last night.

I got these riveted up first thing today and moved onto something I should of done long ago. I bought some 5/16ths bolts and fabed up some wood for a 1 and 7/16ths thickness. Then I bolted these pieces in place in the fuse center section.

I ordered the heat valve from Averys to get a stainless one. This requires a 2 inch hole cut in the stainless firewall. My buddy Jeff B in Roundrock had struggled drilling the carb heat and throttle cable holes with his engine mounted so I broke out the plans and measured these out while I was working on this heat valve. The idea with this valve is a hose mounts on something called a heat muff that bolts to one of the exhaust pipes. The hose runs over to this box and a cable controls an adjustable valve from inside the cockpit. This allows for clean warm air to get mixed inside the cabin for winter operations. Too bad they don't make something that works in the summertime eh!

I knew this was going to be a bitch so I bought a Greenlee punch frm Ebay. Once done I am going to resale these on Ebay. This is one of those tools that ya need when ya need it but once done it will just gather dust in the shop. I will finish this up tomorrow. Derek and I gotta get down to U of H to watch Daniel and his SMU Team cleanup in the Conference USA Swimming Tournament.
