Wig Wag and Trim.... - 8.0 hrs
Today was a great day. Yesterday a front came thru and it rained all day. Today was clear and a zillion. Its nice to work at the hangar when planes are flying like crazy.
Started out trying to mount the left elevator but the wires would not fit thru the bushing with the 6 wire connector. I want to be able to remove the trim servo in case it needs to be replaced. I popped out the bushing and grabbed a rubber grommet. I used the angle drill with a unibit to open the hole larger and installed the grommet.
Next I installed the servo pushing the connector thru the grommet. Mounted the elevator with the temporary pins and could not figure out a way to fish the wire thru to the elevator. Then I noticed a bigger problem. The hole was for the screw in the servo. The one for the wires was further to the right. Grabbed another grommet and the drill and went to town. Reinstalled and added some more wire to make the fishing easier. This time it worked.
I tested the trim several times and it all checks out. Still need to figure out how the wires will terminate behind the panel but need to move on to the wig wag.
I used the wiring diagram to wire up the wig wag switch into the existing EXPBus taxi and landing circuit. Tested with turning the taxi and landing lights on perfect. Switch wig wag switch lights go off...... well Mr. Baker shows up on his hog. We swap building stories for a while. His 4 is coming along but sure sounds like hard building compared to the match drilled kits. Jon then helped me install the comm, Nav and Marker beacon terminations at the SL-30. Over all a great day. Everything is taking much longer than it seems like it should but progress is progress.
