Throttle Quad.... - 4.0 hrs

Today started on another version of the quad bracket. With the panel all open I found some other wires to tiewrap and I went ahead and ran the case ground to the EFIS box.

I am using square tubing from Spruce as it seems stiffer than just angle and its lighter. I am using 2 different approaches here. Dave P has good pics of how he did his throttle quad using angle and Bill R used angle on the inside of the quad. I like the way Bill mounted the angle above the angle stiffener at the bottom of the panel moving the quad up against the bottom of the panel. Even though my radio stack is there with the transponder at the bottom the forward position of the knobs still clears.

On Bill's installation he only used a 2 lever quad so his cables cleared using the clevis ends from Spruce. These are too big for the 3 lever quad. Dave par redrilled the holes in the levers and used a staggered bracket to hold the fixed nuts of the cables. So I am going to use this method.

I used a 1/8 inch carbide bit on the dremel tool to open upe the Vans clevis cable ends. I still may need to open up a bit more for final clearence. I need to finish up the bracket that will mount on the bottom of the quad mount and drill the staggered holes to see what the final clearance needs to be. And that last pic is my new Halo headset that my sweetie gave me for Christmas. Can't wait to try it out.

Jim K stopped by to lend me his micro pin crimper so I can finish up the micro connectors for the trim wires. I lent him my front fork so he can finish up his nose gear. He is getting really close to first flight so we need him to keep moving forward right JIM! Can't wait to see that baby fly.
