Even More Nits..... - 4.0 hrs

Took another day off work to get some plane stuff done. Had to pay bills and house stuff in the morning so I missed the early part of the morning. Can't wait for the cold front next week to get the humidity out of here again.

After I put the airbox on I forgot to safety wire the bolts so I did that this morning. Next I hooked up power to the flap motor. I had already cotter pinned the top but on the push rod end I needed to install the correct bolt. Its a 4A. I had drilled the flap weldment correctly and there was slop in the temp bolt I had in place so I got the plan sheet out and there it was. 4A for this rod end bearing as well as the flap rods that control the flaps. So I got the drill out and drilled those as well.

I used my trusty IPAD to pull up the SB off of Vans site. Later I noticed the SB is on the plansheet in the lower left corner. While I was trying to get the rod end in position to do the safety wire the rod end fell out...... huh just like the reason for the SB huh. Any this took some cussing and bitchin to get it in positio to twist and tighten the bolt. I ended up just undoing the brace and turning it all out of the way. Then it went like a champ.

Last I installed the crotch straps. These took an AN5 bolt and since I am using the Hooker Harnesses I had to fab up some bushings to fill the hole in the crotch strap bracket. With that done I installed the seats to see how the strap fit in the seat hole. Works well so then I installed the shoulder straps just for cool factor. Wow looks like a plane cockpit now. Now I have to remove all of this to install the aileron trim. Also I found out that Classic Aero did not cut holes in the seat area carpet kit for the crotch strap. There is one for the stick but not the crotch strap. I think I can just do that part myself.
