Tank Vent Tubing and Wing Tip Work ..... - 3.0 hrs
Today to finish up the tank connections I fabbed up some #4 fittings to 1/4 inch tubing. I installed one end and then cut it about 4 inches long and used the spring bender to make the shape. I installed the fuse side first and bent it in place and marked the cut about a 1/4 inch long. Removed it made the cut and flared. I even remembered to install the nut and flare fitting before makeing the flares this time!
Move on to the other side and repeat. Next I messed with installing the wing root fairings. I removed the shared screws in the tank and drilled those holes in the fairing to #30. I clecoed one end and then pulled it tight. When I got to under the wing the last hole is about a 1/4 inch off. Not sure how this is going to work. Also the doubler on the vent fitting looks like it is outside the wing root area. I will need to research this. This makes no sense. I know they are the correct ones. Also I wouldn't think they would need to be ground down to fit.
So I decided to move on back to the wing tips. I installed and riveted the trailing edge rib on the left tip. I had to use the close tollerance cframe on the squeezer to get the last rivets but it came out great.
Last I started cutting backup strips out of scrap alum for the inside the tips edge. These will be glued inside the wingtip edge to back up the platenuts.
