Wheel Fairings.... - 4.0 hrs

On the way to the hangar I stopped by Jon Bakers shop to checkout the Kitfox project. Wow.... definately not the same as building a metal airplane.

After the Kitfox visit Off to the hangar. I worked on the wheelpants. First I leveled raised and leveled the plane on longerons and then on roll. With the wheels just off the ground and blocked 1 inch off the wheels I played with turning them and keeping them centered on the tires.

Next I clamped the outside brace on the seam line. I drilled the 4 rivet holes while it was clampled into position. I used a square and marked lines on the floor to measure off of 18 inches outside the plumbbob mark at the rear wingspar connection. This lines up with the rear tail of the wheelpants.

I used the jigs to hold the wheelpants level and allowing roll to center and then drilled the screw holes on the inside brackets. They are still off a bit. I will have to remeasure and try it again.
