More Windscreen Work...... - 2.0 hrs

Ok I have been trying to figure out how I wanted to end the fairing on the rollbar. Since I had packing tape on the side where it ended on the sides it is hanging free of the the metal and not sticking to anything. This is allowing the bottom sides to flex more than I would like even though I laid up additional layers. I found a pic on VAF of a plane with it ending on the top skin line which brings it below the side pieces on the canopy.

So luckily I brought the original rollbar layups down enough so I just undid the all the tape in the corners back. I used a dremel disk to cut the fairings square with the topskin rivet line. I forgot to take pics of the retape but the pics with the tape removed you can tell where I am going with it. After the cut I retaped and did some glass layups down to the new tape line. I didn't mess with mixed in the black die since it is just on the aluminum and this all gets covered with a layer of micromix.

The only issue I see now is the bottom edge is still not connected to the aluminum side skin. I need to figure out a way to get some flox mix in there without it dripping out. Maybe mix up a batch with cabosil and push it in there.

I also had a problem with the rear fairing. The material is kind of soft and one of the screws pulled thru. I decided I needed a firming area to dimple so I mixed up some flox and dyed it black and filled in the holes. Later I sanded it flush and I could see where the holes need to be backdrilled. Hopefully this flox mix will be hard enough else I will need to try something else.
