More Cowl Work ..... - 6.0 hrs

Needed to add another camlock to the bottom cowl piece. The top of the bottom piece does not lay flat against the fuselage. Turns out there is just enough room to fit one. The spacing will be off but this will make it lay flat and look much better.

Started with the template to drill the 3 holes. One to start the center hole and the 2 rivet holes. Next I mounted the bottom cowl to use the center hole to drill a pilot hole in the cowl. Then I removed it and enlarged the center hole to fit the camlock. Last I riveted the camlocks in place.

Next I countersunk the holes on the oil door and test fit to the bottom cowl. Then it was back to the house for somemore sanding and painting and I primed the oil door. With just the first coat of paint the Hartwell locks were sticking. More filing and testing.

More filling and painting and sanding. It still needs more filling but I am going to let the real painter fix it. This thing needs to fly!
