The Final Windscreen Work!...... - 10.0 hrs
Ok folks we are finally there. Worked everyday for the last week and a half each evening and the last weekend in July to get to this point.
You can see from the pics the process of adding filler and sanding to find more pinholes and pits. Repeat. Anyway I got to the point I wanted to shoot primer so I tapped up the painting paper over the plastic. Just wanted to make sure there were no leaks. Next I covered up any areas around to keep any overspray off and then it was time. After leaving over night it was time to pull the plastic to check the final edge. I was really pleased once it was remover. I had a few places where the epoxy mix leaked just a tiny bit under the second layer of tape. In these areas I just used a exacto knife to trim to match the edge line and it looks pretty good now. The painter can make it look perfect. This baby needs to fly!
I was inside the cockpit attaching the leather upgrade dash trim from Classic Aero Designs. It really gives it the finshed look. Then I hear outside about to low pass over the runway.... a T6. Yes it was John coming. I almost broke my neck climbing out from under the panel putting in the screws. I quickly grabbed the camera in time to snap a pic. GO JOHN!!!!
Ok its the last day of July now so I pulled all the plastic off the windscreen and polished it up. SWEET!!!! In 4 days it will be 8 years in the making.
