Finish Kit Update July 2010 Updates
July 27, 2010
More Punchlist Stuff..... - 14.0 hrs
Ok this is a complete weekend update. Friday I started on working on crimping the EGT and CHT crimps to connect the sensor wires to the sensors attached to the cylinders and exhaust pipes.
Saturday morning I continued to finish uup the crimps and then tie wrapped each wire inplace to a rod attached to the plug wired brackets I fabbed up. As I tied these wires up I made sure to keep them closer to the intake pipes as the these are much cooler than the exhaust piples.
Next I wanted to redo the pitot and static lines between the instruments while I have the EFIS shipped off for repair from Adavanced. I am sure Rob is at Oshkosh this week so I won't be getting it back this week. I ordered the new quick connects from Stein Air and dual color tubing. I removed all of the old tubing and connectors and replaced with the new connectors. I forgot to take any pictures of this so I will shoot those next time I go to the hangar. Next I pulled the static line from the rear of the plane up to the panel area running it under the canopy channel. I had to run it thru a brake line tubing to protect it from the bolt heads in the channel that would cause vibration and chaffing.
Next I started fabbing up the links that connects the rudder cables to the rudder pedals. I did some measurements after putting the pedals in position and then cutting them to length. Next I marked the holes and drilled to 3/16 per the plans. Cleaned them up on the grinder and then primed them.
Next I installed the lights and switch for the fuel guardian in the panel just above the GPS 396. Once these were installed I started hooking up the wires per the instructions and tested. They seem to be working fine but until the wings are on the sensors cannot be hooked up for testing. I installed the 6.5 gallon label but can switch them out if needed. The position I instlled the sensor should be close to this level.
Last I temp installed the links with regular bolts until the clevis bolts I ordered from Spruce come in. Seems to work fine so far. Of course I had to climb in and run the rudder left and right all the way to the stops...... no airplane noises yet!
This website was built to document my work in compliance with the FAA requirements
needed to certify my aircraft. My experiences and comments are by no means to be
considered as instructions on how to build any aircraft.
