Wheel Pants and Gear Fairings.... - 5.0 hrs
Bummer I just wore a long sleeve Longhorn Tee shirt. I needed to wear my VAF fleece jacket, would of been perfect. It was just cold enough to be uncomfortable but not enough to run the heater. Anyway I got back on the wheelpants.
I got both in place and measured and measured. Using the Jeff Bordelon method. Still not good enough to drill them in place. I got it just about right and adjusted side to side and angled with the tires just leaving the ground.
I rebuild the right gear fairing that I screwed up a few months ago. I got both leg fairings installed and rechecked the leg to pant fairings. I think once the pants are drilled in place I will get the leg fairings in position which will tell me the leg to pant fit. Then i will rivet the rear to the rear pant, cut them on the wheel pant seams and then lay up about a 3/8 inch layer of glass over the top of the rear. This should allow air to pass over it without pulling anything apart.
I need to double check it all on another day before I drill them to the mounts. Its playoff football time! Well I had to do some work on the wing parts during the game at the house so I primed the wing hinge parts that I fabbed up a few months ago.
This website was built to document my work in compliance with the FAA requirements
needed to certify my aircraft. My experiences and comments are by no means to be
considered as instructions on how to build any aircraft.
