Wings.... - 3.0 hrs

Guess what came in the mail this week???? My #1 of 100 signed copy of the RV7A Slider version. This will be framed and put in my office next to the 8.

I have worked all weekend on cleaning the garage to get it ready for working on the wings. No since it trying to do it at the hangar as space is a premium. Once the garage was unjunked I took the wings out back and started trying to get the film layer of oil off. I tried Dawn detergent but its still so cold that it is not really working.

I used the other that was stored in the garage to make another work table. I went to Lowes and picked up a sheet of plywood and had it cut to 36 x 80 to tack down a nice surface over the door. Came out great. Mounted it on 2 8 foot 2 x 4's laid out over a pair of saw horses. Derek helped me load up the right wing back in the cradle after I finished my first attempt cleaning it.

Then we loaded the left week on the table. This is the one I will start on as it has the pitot tube in it so will take some extra work triming that to fit.

Tonight I got a call from John B. He suggested I try WD40 to cut the grease on the wings. He said he uses it to get the oil off the belly of his 8. I just gave it a shot on one side and I thing he has a great trick. I wish I would of talked to him before I spent all that time trying to wash it off. O well better late than never.
