More on Elevator Tips.... - 4.0 hrs

Finally got to get to the hangar to get some work done. Fred let me borrow his multi fuel heater. Its been cold lately and this really helps. Dad was in town for Christmas so he and I dropped off the heater yesterday and tried it out. Wow what a cooker.

Today I started by mixing up a batch of epoxy and micro and cabosil to hold the foam filler in place. The first batch I made filets on the inside. While that setup I moved on to one of the main wheel pants.

I installed #6 nutplates on one of the wheel pants. I used the quick set epoxy since it was cold but it still setup pretty quickly.

Next I cut 2 notch holes to hold the tips with the foam filler face up. I mixed up a really thick batch of epoxy, micro and cabosil. I put this over the foam and spread it on like cake frosting. Placed these flat side down on plastic. I will still need some more to fill the gap tighter.
