More on the Canopy Frame...... - 5.0 hrs

I have alot of work in December that I didn't get pics of. One is after using the nibbler to cut out the rear fairings I have slowly bent them into shape using my leg and a piece of 4 inch PVC pipe and clamped them to the rear frame checking for fit. This actually may work this time.

Today I started and completed the slider track. Before I started I marked where the old holes in the top skin were and on the other side I marked where the new ones one go. I didnt want to use the old holes because trying to back drill underneath while holding the track in the exact spot would be to iffy. That is a tech term. Then I respaced the rivet holes to match spacing with the new screw holes. I set the track in place and made sure the frame measurements were ok and then drilled the first hole. Once I made sure that was spot on I drilled the remaining holes. Then I rechecked the rear fairings and then left them in a bent position on the rear of the fuse.

I also ordered a new knob to replace the Vans one from JDAirparts. One thing I noticed is when I install the carpet it would be a real pain to bolt the Vans roll trim handle because the carpet takes up the thickness of the shaft. With this new one it comes with a bushing that gets installed in the shaft hole from the top allowing the new Roll knob to be installed from the top. You would need to cut a larger hole in the carpet to install the bushing but the new knob covers all of that up and the piece is first class and the engraving takes care of any labeling issues. As usual anything JDAir makes is first class.
