Fuel pump line to firewall..... - 5.0 hrs
This is actually a Sat Sun update. I moved the front of the plane outside the hangar to get better light to see. With the top skin off I can see much better with the outside light. I tried several attempts at trying to make the stiff fuel line from the pump to the firewall fit. It just will not work.
I gathered up some fuel line and the various tools to make a new one. Its too freakin hot here anyway. The goal was to take it to the house and bend a new one and try again tomorrow.
So I moved on to making a P-lead and use the new Torx driver to mount it on the left Mag. Came out nice. Testing it however showed me getting a spark from the other Mag. So hooking up the mag wire shows I killed the left mag. Everything I read shows the mag is grounded to work and you open it when you turn the key. I think I need to recheck the key wiring to make sure I have it grounded correctly there.
Anyway I rebent a new fuel line at home and was ready to hit it Sunday morning. More of the same as it is still tight. While I had the pump out of the way from the center channel I used the vaccum and airhose to do a really good cleaning of the years of dust build up and hidden drill shavings. Got to get this thing ready to install the carpet once I get this fuel pump working correctly.
I finally got it hooked up and all I need now is to install all the trim pieces and it should be ready. Then install the flex fuel lines out to the wing. Everyday is one step closer!
Before I left for the day I put down one more coat of asphalt fix over the area between the taxi way and the concrete pad in front of the hangar. This will keep the loose rocks from flyin around.
