More Panel and Misc..... - 6.0 hrs
Another HOT one today. First I installed the trim around the EFIS screen. Still a tight fit so I had to enlarge the screw holes. That did the trick.
Next I hooked up the GPS antennas and pulled the plane out to get a sky view. Checked to makesure the XM and Weather was working ok. Once I got some satellites picked up things started working. Next I installed the Garmin 296 on the passenger side. Now I got backup and the passenger has something on their side to keep them busy.
While the plane was outside I hooked up a headset and did a radio check. LOUD AND CLEAR. Looking good so far.
Then it was time to hook up the torque tube from the bellcrank back to the control horns on the elevator. Then I see that I never hooked up the main bolt connecting the elevators. I remembered now that I glued some washers together... Have to find those babies now. Did I say it was hot.... I am up to 5 bottles of water now.
I found the bolt with the washers. I used my fancy washer holders to get them installed. Had to bend one in half. I don't know how you could do it with out these babies. Then on to the bottom bolt to the elevator horns. Had to fab up some bushings to fill the spaces on each side. Too big for just washers. Last I had to remove the canopy to climb in the baggage area. The bellcrank connecting the sticks to the midway point needed to be connected and bolts tightened all up. Now it feels like a pilot stick. Time to climb in and pretend.
This website was built to document my work in compliance with the FAA requirements
needed to certify my aircraft. My experiences and comments are by no means to be
considered as instructions on how to build any aircraft.
