AFS Back and the Ring..... - 1.0 hrs

Well the trim ring finally showed up from AFS today. Turns out I have actually seen one of these installed on a RV8 Fastback. I thought the builder had made this up himself. It is much smaller than I thought it was going to be so should work out well. I used the existing screw holes in the panel to hold it in place and I get good clearance from the switchs below and the openings top and bottom will just need a slight filing to make it fit.

As for left and right width I will just use the existing screw holes and enlage them and then draw a verticle line between them. Then I will dremel vertically and clean it up with a file for fit. The AFS should then slide in from the front. The trim ring gets screwed to the EFIS with the existing holes. Then there are 2 holes. One in the upper right and one in the lower left that get match drilled to the panel. This holds the EFIS in place allowed it to be removed from the front.

I will prime the trim ring and then use the semigloss black finish for final coat. It is thin enough that it should look ok with the crinkle finish on the panel.
