Oil Door Latches and Baffles.... - 2.0 hrs

I wanted to test out one of the latches so I used a scrap piece of fiberglass and drilled and clecoed it in place. I used a unibit to enlarge the hole for the camlock. Looks like it will work great. Don't make fun of my $5.00 latches. If they are used on a certified plane they go up to about $75.00. Hard to believe huh.

Next it was back to the baffles. First I removed the camlocks and uncowled. I got out all of the baffle pieces that I had previously almost completed. The rear wall was already marked but I couldn't remember if the mark was accurate or just an estimate since I couldn't fit both cowls on together.

I installed the back 2 pieces and test fit the top cowl and clamped the front to the spinner plate. It turned out to be pretty accurate. I could not get the top cowl all the way down. I removed the rear pieces and trimmed them down with the band saw. I refit and it is still high in the center.

I refit the sides and checked how much they will need to be trimed. The rear is ok but the front will need to be trimmed somemore. Also the front is about 2 inches too long.
