Cowl Work.... - 2.0 hrs

Ok so the first step today was to fix the missing rivet holes for the cam mechanism. I used the 2nd template jig by just centering the 15/16 hole in the larger hole in the jig I clamped it in place and driled the rivet holes on both sides of the larger one.

Next I removed the cam strips and deburred and countersunk the rivet holes and then riveted the 2 cams in place. Once I reinstall and lock the cams in place I will drill the #30 holes out larger. Now they are what is used for the clecos to hold both cowl pieces in place. On the bottom cowl I still have to drill the rivet holes on the side strips.

Next I used the grommet tool to insert the snap rings on 6 of the holes that have the cam mech installed. Then I instered the studs. I need to make sure I can remove the grommets for painting so I am only doing 6 now.

Last I reinstalled the cowl top and bottom and locked in the studs. I screwed them in until they were almost flush. The last step will be to pull the lock pins from each cam but I think i will wait until final completion on all cams before I do that. Next I will move on with the other cams enlarging each hole and countersinking the rivet holes.
