Cowl and Fab Work.... - 8.0 hrs

Today I wanted to get the FAB installed. So I started by drilling a pilot hole the the plugged hole from yesterday. I used a 1/4 plexi bit to complete the hole. Worked perfect. Next I installed a new cutoff wheel on the dremel tool and cut the outside flange to fit the injector body. Cleaned up the edges with the diegrinder and file.

Next I installed it on the engine and bolted in place. I marked the edges around the box end of the FAB to allow for the 3/8 gap between the air cleaner frame and the baffle deck. I also marked the outside edge of the FAB box area on the bottom of the baffle deck to trim a hole for the filter.

Next I removed the baffle deck and used the dremel to trim out the hole. Also cut around the outside of the FAB box and reinstalled for fit. Looking good so far.

Next I started fabricating the trim pieces that hold the air fileter in place. This took some work but I finally got it done. I drilled and clecoed and reinstalled. Last I fit the bottom cowl in place to see how the fit would be. The instructions do not show or explain how to leave the front edge and it would not fit as the sides needed more triming as well. I removed the sides to allow clearance and test fit. The front of the baffe deck still was too big in the front so I marked it and bent the edge over. If I need to cut I can always do that later but this seems to give it strength so I wanted to try it first.
