Wing Jacks.... - 2.0 hrs

Jim K has convinced me I need to install the wheel pants and gear fairings before I install wings so I will need some wing jacks to jack the fuselage and level it to get the wheels off the ground. Picked up a 2 Enormous Stroke hydralic jacks from HB. Used a VAF DIY wing jack plan from Rick G to build 2 wing jacks. Total cost was less that $100 for both and one is normally $350. Great deal.

First I marked and x on the 2 x 2 foot plywood. Centered the jack and drilled some screw holes to hold the jack in place. Next I cut the legs out of 1/2 inch electrical conduit. Flattened the ends of 3 1/2 inch on one end and 2 1/2 on the other. I bent ther first one to match the angel of the jack in the middle with the shorter flat bend in the conduit at the corner of the plywood.

I used this first one as a template for the others. Next I used the large hose clamps to hold the pieces in place and drilled the corners and screwed them in place. Next I slide the 2nd hose clamp in place and thgithened them down.

Last I used a 6 inch 5 1/16 bolt and mounted it with washers and bolts next to the jack hold the jack handle. Tested out the jack... look at the throw on these jacks. WOW.
