Prop Spinner.... - 5.0 hrs

Today I wanted to take a break from the baffles so I moved on the the prop spinner. I picked up a protractor so I could align the 6 screws on the front hub. 6 x 60 degress = 360 right. This process worked great for the placement of 6 nutplates on the front bulkhead.

Next I used the divider Jon B gave me to get equal spacing for the 14 screws along the back bulkhead. Once measured and marked I put a black mark for each screw. I then installed the prop spinner and used the ladder marker process described in the manual to check for true center of the spinner. Then I drilled the rear holes first to #30.

Next I drilled the six holes on the front. At first I could not see the holes so I washed the spinner out with water to get all of the fiberglass nice and clean and while its is still a bit damp it becomes more translucent. Repeated this process for the front holes.

I removed the prop spinner and clecoed all of the nutplates in place and used them as a jig but drilling out the rivet holes. Next I deburred all of the holes and countersunk the holes for the rivets and installed the nutplates. A very long process but I got it done. Next I reinstalled the spinner and screwed in all of the screws to check for fit. Came out very nice.

Now it was too hot and Tiger was coming on for the final round at Congressional. So I removed the spinner and grabbed 2 cans of primmer and headed to the house. I figured I could use the down time of paint drying between coats to watch Tiger win!
