Spinner.... - 2.0 hrs
Today I worked on the spinner since I can't be at the hangar much. I started with making a cardboard template. I measured the bottom of the prop dome and came up with a circumference of 41 inches.
I marked a center line on each side of the dome at 0 and 20.5 inches to match up the center of the template. "Hey Jim, what is the metic equivelent of that". I used the template to mark the area to cut away for the prop. Next I used the dremel with a cutoff wheel to remove the template area.
After the first fit it was close. I used a sanding drum first to smooth out the curved lines. Once that was done I put some sandpaper on a large socket to get a round sanding block. This put the finish edge on the curved areas.
Looks good. Next will be to figure out the nut plate positions.
This website was built to document my work in compliance with the FAA requirements
needed to certify my aircraft. My experiences and comments are by no means to be
considered as instructions on how to build any aircraft.
