More Cowling Work.... - 2.0 hrs

The new camstrips I ordered from Vans still have not arrived so I thought I would work on the rear canopy fairing. I decided to trial fit the fiberglass piece again to see if I removed the sides maybe I could use the rear piece.

I removed the rear clecos and used the marks I made on the masking tape for indexs to the holes in the canopy and frame. After installing a few clecos starting at the top and working down the fit looks nice and tight.

I continued down until I was at the last holes in the sides. Then I marked the bottom edges of the canopy sides. I removed the fairing and cut along the marks with a cutoff wheel.

I reinstalled and it looks like a decent fit. I opened the canopy and reclosed a few times to check the fit. Looks like all I will have to do is some sanding on the edges and this baby will be ready to prime. I may just tap the holes to #8 screws and install that way in case this method does not work. It would then be easy to remove and start over.
