More Cowling Work.... - 8.0 hrs

The seats arrived from Classic Aero Designs. These are the new style which replace the need for the seat backs. The bottom of the seat back has a hinge attachment that connects to the one in the floor. They also have a slideing lumbar support. I had to at least sit one in place to see how they look.

Next I started working on camlock spacing. Looks like 3.75 is going to work best. I started with one in the center and with that spacing it will take 13 for the top cowl.

I ended up cutting the cam strip into 3 pieces. I drilled the center piece and counter sunk to allow the dimples in the firewall to sit flush in the strip. Next I measured the right and left pieces for even spacing of the cam locks.

Next I used a cutoff wheel on the dremmel tool and cut the edge I marked on the back edge of the cowl. I test fit and it was a bit snug so I used a 3 foot piece of wood with some 180 grit sandpaper. I sanded the back edge and test fit again. There needs to be a small gap to allow for paint.
