Getting ready for Edourad.... - 0.0 hrs

No work on the plane today. After work I heading down to the hangar to get the hangar ready for Tropical Storm Edouard.

When I bought the hangar from Jon he handed me a hand full of bolts and said don't loose these and he put them on top of the breaker panel in the office. Then hangar is very strong and is attached to poles on the four corners that are buried in concrete. When Rita came a few years ago on drilled holes in some strategic areas and installed 5/16 bolts with washers in the door frames along the front which really help stiffen up the front wall.

He also fabbed up 2 2 x 4's that mount along the front doors and angle down to the floor and mounted the bottom into the concrete. The prop spinner on his 6 and now the one on my 7 ends up being only about a foot front the front wall and if this ever blew in would be really bad. With these installed the doors become one with the front wall and very strong. Great job JON!

While I was getting ready to start bolting things up Jim stopped by and gave me some pointers on the canopy. After bolting things up Gary my hangar neighbor came by. 3 of the front panels on the right door have always had a slight gap in them. If we ever have a bad storm and the wind was able to come in from the north east it could get under these panels and if then ever came off things could get really bad if the wind got inside the hangar. Gary helped me remove these panels and reinstall them locking them in place as we reinstalled. We had to remove a total of 4 panels and reinstall. All of this with the threat of a rain storm with lighting. Turned out to be a 3 beer job!
