Water Wheel Flyin.... - 0.0 hrs

Saturday was a great day. I got to spend some quality time with my son Derek at a flyin. He has never been as he is not really into airplanes. Maybe it will rub off someday.

Got to see some of the gang from our group. Gary Haley showed up in his RV7. Never actually saw him but was able to snap a few shots of his plane. What a show piece. Marshall showed up in his 6 and we got a nice flyby video on his departure.

Met a gentleman from Dumas Arkansas Gerald Loyd that flew down in his 4. That made Jon's day since he was able to get some time with him. When you know what these guys go thru to build the early model kits you get a new appreciation for the workmanship that it takes to complete one. No match drill holes on these babys. What is really depressing is it was 80 miles door to door from my house to the flyin. Gerald said it took him an hour 15 from his airport in Arkansas to get to Water Wheel Estates. Took us an hour 45. It would take me 15 minutes from Weiser in the 7 and that is only because you have to fly around IAH.

We also got to see Coley and Larry's projects in hangars on the field. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of there setup. Over all the weather started out sucky and then turned into a perfect day. By the time we left it there was not a cloud in the sky and no wind.
